Oklahoma De-Transitioner Given Pedophilic Books By Girl Scouts, Adult Chaperone
Former Transgender, Zoe Hawes, Warns of the Sexualized Content of Some Children's Genres
Oklahoma is generally seen as more conservative. More than that, the idea of “extreme woke” ideology, such as pro-transgenderism, is often reserved for the major, more progressive towns in the “red state”, like Tulsa, or Oklahoma City, it would seem. However, there appears to have been some major developments to the trans ideology, particularly marketed towards children, even in rural Oklahoma towns, like Moore and Lawton.
We see it in conservative media all the time. Ryan Walters and parents rights groups, like Moms for Liberty, often warn of the sexualized content of many books found in school libraries and public city libraries around the state. As a teacher in Tulsa, Gabe Woolley, has found books with questionable love affair themes pulled right off of the desk and library shelf of his own fifth graders in Tulsa. These books are immediately pulled and reported to the state and school administration by many parents and the few remaining, conservative teachers, like Gabe, in the profession.
Yet, in small town Lawton, Oklahoma, Zoe Hawes, a then sixth grade girl, now an adult, reflects on the time when an adult chaperone for her girl scouts group gifted her with a MANGA (Japanese Comic Type Literature) series that featured male on male kissing, a common act within the literary culture referred to as “boys love manga”, or “BL”.
“I was twelve and this set me up for years of obsessively reading boys love manga.”
Zoe wrote a warning to Christians and parents, in a recent (2024) Facebook post, as she reflected back on some of her own childhood experiences. She seems to hint, that these experiences played into the process of becoming transgender as a teenager. Zoe goes on to describe how she felt compelled to sound the alarm to the Christian community, because often times, “many…simply do not know these things exist or how easy they are for children to access.”
This is certainly not the first issue out of small town Lawton, correlated to transgenderism. Though, perhaps it is one of the first to NOT be on the side of pro-transgenderism as a 2017 article from ABC 7 News article seems to express quite the opposite. Even beyond Oklahoma, A ‘Parent’s Guide To Manga’, published by Canton Public Library, gives this “age rating” scale and description of potential content to readers:
Manga Age Ratings
E/A – Everyone/all ages
Y – Youth, or ages 10+. May contain mild cartoon violence and/or cursing.
T – Teen, or ages 13+. May contain sexual innuendo and/or violent action.
OT – Older teen, or ages 16+. May contain explicit sexual situations and/or violent scenes with blood and gore.
M – Mature, or ages 18+. May contain explicit sexual situations and/or strong language and/or bloody battles.
The article goes on to say; “Some manga are rated mature because the fights are more bloody while others may also contain use of drugs and/or alcohol, nudity and/or sex.”
Zoe was also very clear, in her Facebook post, that she was not “bashing” anyone that reads or allows their children to read MANGA literature. She simply wanted to express a concern via her own personal testimony.
For The Sake Of Education
Zoe has more recently spent her time sharing her story and advocating for awareness when it comes to certain concerning issues in mainstream modern day culture. In a 2023, “Real Conversations: Biblical Thinking On Cultural Issues”, interview, Zoe expressed that she still has some struggles concerning her mental health, even after de-transitioning. She expresses that she was even affirmed as trans in one of her former youth groups in Oklahoma at age sixteen and also struggled with attraction towards women. However, she has come a long way since then. Today, Zoe takes her new position, as an outspoken de-transitioner, on church stages and even on an Oklahoma film set, for her upcoming (2024) documentary, ‘Trans-Oklahoma: Dark Side Of The Rainbow’, in an effort to shine a light on the more negative aspects of certain ideologies, while simultaneously shining a light, in the midst of spiritual darkness, to counteract the works of an ever-growing identity crisis many see developing throughout the nation.
Do Not Be Dismayed
“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,’ even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.”
—Psalm 139:11-12
The work that Zoe, along with other Oklahoma De-Transitioners, are doing to bring truth and light in a world of confusion and crisis, is beginning to grip the hearts of Oklahomans in every corner of the state. Her new film, ‘Trans-Oklahoma’, after being censored by some left-wing, pro-LGBTQ activists, has since resurfaced in a triumphant response to a call to action from the film’s producers. Six grassroots church groups have opened their doors and hearts to Red River Creative Media, the women, and families of this film, in an effort to shine the light on the culture war we find ourselves to be in the midst of.
